Michael O’Neill
Michael O'Neill is a filmmaker based in Tasmania. With a passion for storytelling, he works as a writer, director, and cinematographer.
He has written, directed and produced original works in narrative drama, comedy and documentary. Highlights have included co creating the Screen Australia supported hit online comedy series, Australia’s Best Street Racer, which to date has over 2 million views and for which Michael won Best Direction Of An Online Comedy Series at the Australian Directors Guild Awards. Following the success of the series, Michael was invited to work as the Directors Attachment on Season 5 of the acclaimed ABC series, Rosehaven. In addition to his work in comedy, Michael has directed numerous dramatic short films and documentaries including The Small Town Drifter for SBS.
In addition to his original works, Michael has also produced Electronic Press Kit (EPK) content for major streaming platforms such as STAN, ABC, and Amazon. His expertise in capturing the essence of these series has made him a sought-after professional in the field.
Furthermore, through his commercial production company Michael has worked with a range of clients. His expertise shines through in branded content that spans a variety of industries, including tourism, not for profits, and fashion. With a keen eye for detail and a knack for capturing the heart of a story, he creates captivating narratives that leave a lasting impact on audiences.
